• Just when you think it couldn’t get any more ridiculous this story arrives:
Canada’s plastics rules now include workplace dental floss tracking!

Ottawa’s Federal Plastics Registry will require industrial facilities to report workplace disposal of single use hygiene plastics including items such as dental floss and disposable razors, according to federal guidance documents.

The reporting system overseen by Environment and Climate Change Canada will begin phasing in requirements starting in 2025 with additional categories added through 2027.

Under the framework organizations must record the type quantity and fate of plastics used on their premises including whether they are recycled incinerated composted or sent to landfill.

A heartbreaking moment during an interview with a British World War II veteran shows that the older generation understands how grave the situation is in his country — the freedom he fought for is gone.

Good Morning Britain interviewed Alec Penstone, a 100-year-old man who once fought to protect his country from tyranny, on Friday morning. The interview was conducted ahead of Nov. 11’s Veterans Day or for the United Kingdom, Remembrance Day.

Penstone was asked what his message is as we approach it.

“The sacrifice wasn’t worth the result that it is now,” he told the room.
When asked to explain, Penstone added, “What we fought for was our freedom … now it’s a darn sight worse than when I fought for it.”

  • Carney's plan for unlimited chain migration

    To our fellow proud Canadian,

Canada’s government has just made unlimited chain migration an official policy with the removal of long-standing checks and balances from Canadian citizenship with the introduction of Bill C-3.

Under these changes, anyone born outside of the country can now claim Canadian citizenship if their parents spent just over 1095 days in Canada. They’re calling this a “substantial connection to Canada.” This is not a substantial connection, this is less time than it takes to finish a Bachelors degree. With Bill C-3’s logic, anyone that comes to study in Canada for 4 years and then gets citizenship in the process, can just pass it down to their children, and then their children can pass it down again.

Even if their connection to Canada is minimal and temporary. Opening the door for endless intergenerational chain migration, with no clear way to track who will be eligible in the future or how many newcomers will be added to our already strained system.

    This is dangerous.

The government has removed multiple sets of barriers. Now there is no English or French literacy requirement for new citizens, risking long-term integration for newcomers. No more mandatory security checks to ensure the safety of our country. No citizenship test required to ensure basic knowledge of our country. No meaningful requirement for residency, just three years at any time before a child’s birth abroad.

This is a phenomenon many have coined “Canadians of Convenience." We are de-valuing our citizenship to the point where anyone can just have it. The requirements to become a naturalized citizen are dangerously low. Someone can come to Canada, return to their home country, have children, and then all move back when it’s convenient to them.

    That’s not citizenship. It’s a back-up plan.

Being a Canadian citizen and having access to the services afforded to citizens should mean active integration and participation in Canadian society. The removal of the first generation limitation is completely disrespectful to the thousands of immigration who worked hard for their citizenship. Now you can be born into it after your parents spend only three years here.

Many Canadians have spent their entire lives contributing to Canada, and three years is the threshold for citizenship benefits for the generations after you. It’s disrespectful.

Canadians deserve better. If you believe Canadian citizenship should be something. If you believe in responsible, secure, and fair immigration, stand with us. Here at Canada Proud we are working towards a better Canada, a strong Canada.

A Canada that puts Canadians first.

Let's re-elect the LIBERALS who give BILLIONS TO UKRAINE and immigrants.....but seniors need to not receive their Old Age Security payments that they paid into for 40+ years.
Liberals urged to cut Old Age Security spending in upcoming budget Kershaw said that OAS has drifted too far from its original aim of 'protecting insecure retirees' to 'padding the comfort of affluence'
OTTAWA — Advocates are calling on the CARNEY LIBERALS to start with the biggest line item when deciding where to cut spending ahead of the upcoming federal budget.
Paul Kershaw, the head of generational fairness group Generation Squeeze, told reporters in Ottawa that the $80-billion Old Age Security (OAS) program desperately needed to be reined in, with federal spending hurtling toward a crisis point.
“(OAS) is now the single biggest driver of federal deficits. It costs $42 billion more than a decade ago and adds more to red ink than child care, than PharmaCare, than dental care, or defence,” said Kershaw.
Kershaw noted that the interim budget watchdog said in a recent committee appearance that the federal government was spending at an unsustainable rate.
Generation Squeeze is calling for OAS payments to be reduced for retired couples with incomes over $100,000. Under the current rules, couples with incomes of up to $182,000 qualify for the full $18,000 benefit.
The group says its proposal would save Canadians $7 billion a year, while increasing the benefit for some single seniors.
Kershaw said that OAS has drifted too far from its original aim of “protecting insecure retirees” to “padding the comfort of affluence.”
“Let’s be clear, helping poor retirees is a duty. Subsidizing affluence is a waste,” said Kershaw.
He added that the billions saved from scaling back benefits for better-off seniors would be enough to lift most of the 400,000 Canadian seniors living in poverty to an adequate standard of living.
Kershaw also called on PRIME MINISTER MARK CARNEY to reject a Bloc Québécois-led push to boost OAS payouts for younger seniors, between the ages of 65 and 74.
“PRIME MINISTER CARNEY’S first budget must resist the retiree lobby and the Bloc Québécois. Both are pressing Ottawa to pour billions more into (OAS) in ways that would do too little to help seniors that need it, and too much for those who don’t need the help,” said Kershaw.
Under the Bloc’s proposal, the maximum OAS payment for 65 to 74-year-olds, currently around $740 per month, would go up by 10 per cent to bring it in line with the maximum payment for seniors aged 75 and over.
A Bloc motion to increase OAS for all people aged 65 and up was adopted by the House of Commons last year, with the support of the Conservatives, NDP and Greens.
Bloc finance critic Jean-Denis Garon put the OAS proposal at the top of a list of six non-negotiable demands for the federal budget last week.
The Liberals are three seats short of a majority, and could use the Bloc’s 22 votes to give them some breathing room in passing the budget, set to be introduced on Nov. 4.
The Bloc’s OAS proposal would add roughly $3 billion per year to federal spending, according to figures from the Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer.
Carney has said the budget will deliver “austerity and investment.”
Anthony Quinn, the president of the Canadian Association of Retired Persons, said that Kershaw was trying to spark “intergenerational warfare,” rather than put forward constructive ideas for bringing down the deficit.
“I think Mr. Kershaw is short-sighted, not understanding that we all become seniors if we’re lucky. And these programs are entitled to make sure Canadians are aging with dignity,” said Quinn.
Quinn said that Generation Squeeze’s OAS math didn’t account for various “costs of aging” such as at-home care and pricey medical devices and mobility aids.
According to a recent report from RBC Wealth Management, a healthy couple between 65 and 74 spends roughly $13,000 a year on health care. This jumps to $23,000 between 75 and 84, and $40,000 over the age of 85.
“There’s no guarantee that everyone is a rich, fat-cat senior, and that’s how Kershaw is framing all his arguments,” said Quinn.

  • Information still coming out as to how dangerous and totalitarian and downright evil the Biden administration and democrats have become . . .

Chris Wray’s FBI Tried To Destroy Turning Point USA

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, dropped that bombshell Tuesday during a Senate Judiciary Committee regular hearing on the oversight of the FBI, along with a revolting new document.

“It’s well-understood that your predecessor left you an FBI infected with politics,” Grassley said in his opening statement, speaking to current FBI Director Kash Patel. As proof, Grassley shared recently released records listing 92 targets the FBI was investigating or intending to investigate in the large-scale, multi-year political weaponization operation named Arctic Frost, a joint investigation using resources from the FBI, Department of Justice, and Office of Inspector General. This bogus witch hunt involved more than 150 interviews, over 400 subpoenas (largely for bank records), hundreds of witnesses, and search warrants for cell phones of high level government officials, electronic devices, iCloud access, and email accounts.

“Arctic Frost was the FBI case opened and approved by anti-Trump FBI agent [Timothy] Thibault. Arctic Frost became Jack Smith’s elector case against Trump,” Grassley said. “These new records show that Arctic Frost was much broader than just an electoral matter. The case was expanded to Republican organizations. Some examples of the groups the Wray FBI sought to place under political investigation included the Republican National Committee, Republican Attorneys General Association and Trump political groups.”

Grassley said 92 Republican-linked targets, including Turning Point USA, were placed under the investigative scope of Arctic Frost. Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA was on a list of Republican groups targeted by President Joe Biden’s FBI under the direction of then-Director Christopher Wray. “In other words, Arctic Frost wasn’t just a case to politically investigate Trump. It was the vehicle by which partisan FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors could achieve their partisan ends and improperly investigate the entire Republican political apparatus. Today, Sen. Johnson and I are making these records public for the country to see,” Grassley added.

While the FBI, DOJ, and OIG could have been fighting crime, the Biden Administration instead used these far reaching government agencies to probe the finances of its political foes, fishing for wrongdoing. Where was the probable cause to launch such investigations?

In addition to Turning Point USA or Turning Point Action, the list included numerous entities related to Donald Trump. Here are a few others on the target list: My Pillow, Women for America First, Conservative Partnership Institute, America First Policy Institute, Tea Party Express, Attorney Sidney Powell, Public Interest Legal Foundation, and several entries listed simply as “Giuliani,” likely referencing Rudy Giuliani.

The Deep State used its exclusive access to investigative tools to try to intimidate or stop Charlie Kirk from becoming the next generation’s leader of the conservative movement.

  • THAT was a weekend! We were at Creative Chaos in Vernon over the weekend, a three-day massive craft fair bringing vendors from across Canada! We were able to reconnect with a herbalist who got us started on our wildcrafted herbal journey 10 years ago on Canada Day. That had to be the biggest highlight of the entire weekend, being able to say hi, then later thank him for sharing the tidbit of advice that sent us down this engaging, fun, lifetime of learning!

We debuted a new product to the Ashtree Wildcrafting line: Sample Collections! We are occasionally asked if Ashtree Wildcrafting sells cups. We went thrift store crawling and found some beautiful English china!

This past weekend was the last opportunity to register for the Thistle Workshop happening at the end of June. We have two registrants and looking forward to making a wild thistle version of artichoke dip, and making breaded thistle spears to eat it with! The next workshop coming up is July's Purslane Advanced Foraging Workshop on July 26th. We will learn about the benefits and uses of Purslane while gathering and then making a couple different dipping sauces. The deadline to register for the Purslane workshop has moved to July 12th!

Catch us in person at Lumby Days Indoor Craft Fair June 14th and 15th, Schubert Centre craft fair June 28th, Fintry Manor July 19th, and in August, the garlic festival on the 10th and Fintry Manor on the 17th.

Hope to see you at one of those events if you are in the area!

Final note for today, due to various people at wellness fairs and even at craft fairs asking if we are 7th Day Adventist, no we are not. We are evangelical in our Christian faith. A basic Statement of Faith is now added to my website in two places, the Spiritual Wafare right-hand menu, and up under About in the main menu.
