  • Why So Many Have Sleep Issues
    https://russtanner.substack.com/p/why-so-many-have-sleep-issues

80% of Europeans are either “Val/Met” or “Met/Met” meaning that they require Methionine (“Met”) to produce the critical “sanity enzyme” catechol-o-methyltransferase.

Catechol-o-methyltransferase (COMT) is the chief enzyme in the body that breaks down dopamine, epinephrine (adrenaline), norepinephrine, and estrogen. Anyone who is of the “Val/Met” or “Met/Met” genetic type requires methionine to produce COMT.

    Why is this so important?

Because the production of methionine—and therefore the production of COMT—requires magnesium. This is why magnesium can help you sleep, however, magnesium metabolism is inhibited by the presence of mercury. This is why mercury exposed people experience anxiety, insomnia, fear, depression, hyperactivity, anger and many other emotional conditions.

    In short:

    Magnesium ? Methoinone
    Methionine ? Catechol-o-methyltransferase
Catechol-o-methyltransferase lowers dopamine, epinephrine (adrenaline), norepinephrine, and estrogen.

If you block magnesium, you interfere your body’s ability to calm down, have peace, and sleep well, but that’s not all.

Mercury interferes with the production of the chief neuroregulator GABA (gamma-Aminobutyric acid). As a result, emotions are amplified and can become out-of-control. Worry about small issues becomes obsessive and overwhelming. Molehills become mountains. You lay down to sleep and you can’t stop thinking about your to-do list. Songs loop in your mind. You try to sleep but your mind won’t stop.

As a result of hormone decimation and GABA destruction, young teens often start exhibiting rebelliousness, laziness, apathy, forgetfulness, or disconnection after placement of their first amalgam fillings or multiple vaccine exposure. Society has been taught to blame the teenage personality changes on “hormones”. Parents are taught that such changes at a younger age are just “the terrible twos”.

Everything has a cause. Knowing the cause is 80% of knowing the cure.

Mercury induces over 200 of the most common diseases today, yet the medical and dental industries have historically been the leading sources of exposure. Machiavellianism?

Mercury is called “The Fear Drug” because it decimates your hormone balance and enzyme production and quite literally induces fear. Fear leads to virtually every type of destructive behavior. Enough mercury can lead to societal chaos. Some may say, “Stop stressing”, but how can you when it’s being chemically-induced against your will? Even heart fib, v-tach, and heart attacks can be caused by elevated adrenaline and other catecholamines.

Different people are affected differently, but virtually everyone shows some symptomatic manifestation when exposed to even minute amounts of mercury, and it just gets worse and worse over time.

Mercury is now, in all likelihood, a global epidemic, but some ask, “Where is all this mercury coming from?”.

  • Mercury and Your Primary Gut Immune System
(This is why every autistic child has gut issues—Dr. Haley)

    See https://gsw.bz/deathtrails

    “Secretory A”

Secretory Immunoglobulin A (sIgA) — the body’s first line of immune defense along all mucosal surfaces, including:

    - the gut (intestinal lining)
    - the sinuses and lungs
    - the urinary and reproductive tracts

It’s produced by plasma cells in the mucosa and secreted as a dimeric antibody (two IgA units linked by a “secretory component”). Its job is to neutralize pathogens and toxins before they enter the bloodstream and to maintain a healthy regulatory dialogue between the immune system and gut microbiota.

When levels drop — as in low sIgA — you see increased permeability (a “leaky” gut barrier), food sensitivities, recurring infections, and chronic inflammation.

Mercury’s Direct and Indirect Impacts on Secretory IgA

Mercury (especially methylmercury and Hg²⁺ ionic mercury) can interfere with sIgA both directly and indirectly through several documented mechanisms:

    1. Inhibition of Plasma Cells

Mercury selectively targets B‑cell and plasma‑cell function, suppressing antibody production.

Studies on animal and human models show mercury exposure reduces total IgA synthesis, especially in mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue.

Chronic exposure (e.g., from dental amalgams, contaminated fish, or industrial sources) leads to immune dysregulation — reduced tolerance and exaggerated inflammatory signaling instead of balanced mucosal immunity.

    2. Oxidative and Mitochondrial Stress in Gut Epithelium

Mercury binds to sulfhydryl (-SH) groups on enzymes, blocking glutathione-related antioxidant defenses.

This oxidative stress damages tight junction proteins (occludin, zonulin) and goblet cells that help secrete the protective mucus layer where sIgA works.

Once that barrier is compromised, sIgA secretion and stability drop further because the mucosa is physically deteriorating.

    3. Neuroimmune Downregulation via the Gut–Brain Axis

Mercury is neurotoxic to the vagus nerve, which is strongly tied to mucosal immune activation.

Impaired vagal tone → less cholinergic anti‑inflammatory signaling → weakened sIgA response.

    4. Microbial Dysbiosis

Mercury has antimicrobial activity but kills off beneficial species preferentially (like Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium).

This imbalance promotes the growth of resistant species, including some sulfur‑reducing and methanogenic microbes that metabolize mercury compounds — disturbing mucosal ecology.

Dysbiosis itself diminishes local sIgA stimulation, compounding the drop.

    How This Manifests Clinically

You’ll often find the following in those with measurable mercury burden:

    - Chronically low sIgA on stool or saliva tests
    - Recurrent infections of the sinuses, gut, or urinary tract
    - Food sensitivities that seem to multiply over time

Persistent gut inflammation and permeability (zonulin elevation, calprotectin variability)

Fatigue, brain fog, and anxiety (driven by both neurotoxicity and chronic immune activation)
