Canada runs one of the largest assisted-death programs in the world. In 2024, 16,499 people died by MAiD - up 6.9% from the year before, after 2023’s toll of 15,343 accounted for nearly one in twenty deaths in this country. You would think a program of that scale, administered by the state, ending lives at industrial volume, would report its numbers the way we report anything else that kills Canadians: promptly, completely, and in a form the public can interrogate.
