• A moment to catch up with everyone! Life has been going lickety-split so far this summer, and with berry harvest staring us down the barrel, we are wondering how we're going to get it all done. The smoke that's rolled into the valley is the reason I have time to write just now. Forecasts have it lightening up a bit this weekend, which is good because we are at the Penticton Ribfest Friday afternoon through to Sunday. Why is a natural health practitioner at a meat-focussed event??? Because God created humans as omnivores, both in our mouths and in our guts.

We recently held our first wildcrafted high tea and it went over smashingly well! The attendees were suitably amazed at the spread they saw, flavours they tasted, and several remarked about how full they felt. One of the attendees was vegan and a couple were vegetarian, so it had been requested that no animal products be at this particular event. But otherwise, the layout, the presentation of the space we were in, and the guests made it one for the history books!

We've also been out foraging, and dismayed to see just how dry our zones have become.

We did another advanced foraging workshop up in Vernon in partnership with Noodlelegs, and did some actual gathering during our time together. We gathered various herbs for the workshop itself where we ended with cups of fresh tea by the tailgate of the truck. It was a nice way to end the day.

The Fall schedule is taking shape. We will be at the Kelowna Farmer's Market more frequently in August while also trying to dive head-first into the berry harvest. I hope to have the website calendars updated before the end of July and then will post a new Where We'll Be Card as well. If you are wondering about a date for a workshop or event from the booking card, do reach out in the meantime to ask what's available. We can look at our pencilled in calendar and get back to you.

  • Our booth made it into this year's photo for the Vernon Wellness Fair happening April 11th and 12th! If you look at the right-hand side of the photo in this press release, you'll see our pop-up apothecary booth, and beside it to the left, you'll see Ashley and I as we chat with someone.

    https://www.castanet.net/news/Vernon/606646/Vernon-Wellness-Fair-brings-more-than-70-health-and-holistic-vendors-to-recreation-centre

New this year at our booth, stop by for a free health assessment making use of your sense of smell to inform the process. The Natural Health Fun Zone has been changed up. Two changes will be present around the teas. One, no jellies or syrups will be present. The second change at our booth is a brand new tea, and our first fully-powdered tea: Wild Apple Spice. This tea introduces new packaging that we will be phasing in across all our blends as 2026 progresses. Wild Apple Spice features entirely Central Okanagan-grown fruit and herbs, and one may surprise you due to how similar it tastes to cinnamon.

April 11th and 12th ONLY, you will find a promotion at our booth for my coaching services. $10 off your first 5 sessions, with the first session free, for a grand total of 6 sessions. The catch??? You must fill out and return your client intake form AT the wellness fair! If you hand in your signed form before the end of the day on the 12th, you will be saving $50 across your first 5 paid sessions.

Tomorrow is Resurrection Sunday, the most important day of the entire year! Without Jesus rising from the dead on the third day, we would not have the promise of eternal life.

So I end with this evangelical/charismatic call and answer:

    HE IS RISEN!!!

    HE IS RISEN INDEED!!

  • An article on the local mainstream news source claims that doctors and health groups are lobbying the Canadian federal government to step up action against a growing number of cervical cancer cases across the country. They want an increase in use of the HPV vaccine, calling it "highly effective".

The so-called "highly effective vaccine" is known to cause severe side effects in people over the years, even killing some of them in the years my kids had been in high school. The better course of action to prevent cervical cancer, is for women to choose chaste lifestyles until they are married, and only marry a man who was chaste before his vows as well. This not only prevents most cases of cervical cancer, it prevents most cases of STD's as well.

If after taking those measures, a person is still concerned with potential cases of either STDs or cervical cancer, there are herbs that can help, either because they are considered anti-cancer, meaning they have compounds that prevent cancer, or because they have been tested or used historically against various forms of STD, or both.

Click here to read the full piece and learn the herbs I speak of.

  • Because it happened during the week of the World Economic Forum's meetings in Davos, Switzerland, consider the following three articles to be your PSA that if you weren't including certain foods, herbs and spices in your winter regimen before, now is the time to start. None of these articles I'm about to share are short! I recommend putting together your favourite beverages, maybe one per article, your favourite snacks, a comfey chair, and perhaps put on a fireplace movie if you don't have an actual fireplace. Then open each of these articles one by one, with a notepad and pen handy, and maybe have a pillow nearby to scream into if you feel it necessary.

Use your notes to inform your shopping and meal/snack plans going forward. If you'd like assistance with this, do reach out to me.

    Imperatively important Background Information

How to understand, prepare, and prevent potential infection:

  • We were recently approached at the Rutland Flea Market, with whether or not we had any teas that would be recommended for someone suffering COPD. The day was slow, so Ashley began looking up a few studies online, sent me a couple links, and when we got home, I began my own research.

Various compounds found in food, herbs and spices have been observed for their ability to address some aspect of COPD. A few of the herbs are in one or more of the teas we sell on Ashley's Ashtree Wildcrafting table, and we have zeroed in on the specific tea to offer the inquirer when we see them again.

COPD is a multi-faceted condition that can begin a number of ways, including smoking or being around smokers, poor long-term dietary choices, age, and bacterial lung infections. The COPD sufferer needs to assess their lifestyle, their environment, and their daily food habits if they want to begin the road to healing.

If you are suffering asthma, COPD, emphysema, or similar ailments and you got to the end of this article wondering how you'd make use of this information for yourself, feel free to reach out to me using this form, and let's chat.

  • While the CNN reference taking up several pages could have been omitted, Mercola's pulled together a number of studies and reports that are showing alarming trends around the whole GLP-1 drug craze. He then lists a number of more useful steps a person can take if they want the purported results of GLP-1 without risking the adverse side effects that are growing in number out there. Repairing your gut is at the top of the list, because a certain gut bacterium is known to do the job that many GLP-1 drugs claim to do, without the side effects. If you want to see the studies for yourself, go to the end of his article and click on the papers you want to read. The footnotes will take you directly to each paper or article.

If you would like assistance with putting that workable list into practice, or wanting to know what foods, herbs and spices can help you achieve a similar goal, reach out to me and lets chat.

  • When you stop by my table at a craft fair or wellness fair, you may hear me greet you with this, particularly if you've just picked up my brochure, or commented on my business title.

While I have already spelled out what Biblical Natural Health Coaching is, and this page gets regular visits from people I've met as well as those I have not yet met, I don't believe I've fully spelled out what my focus means or potentially entails.

Taking advantage of my Biblical Natural Health Coaching services will invite you to embark on a journey of learning, discovery, and healing that mainstream medicine has tried to suppress. God's Word gives us examples of using food as medicine, and science has confirmed why those herbs were used as they were both in Biblical times and down through history since.

It is my hope after reading this today, that you have a clear view of the phrase you may have heard me say around my services, that my focus is wholefood as medicine that might grow outside your front door. Looking forward to working with you!

  • Time for an update! 2025 continues it's crazy trajectory and we've now hit full throttle!

People continue to hint at me writing books about our wild food and medicine escapades. The textbook idea is taking shape, and I've decided the herbal compendium will be a trip through history as we follow herbal medicine as far back as we can. Currently, that promises to be a food and medicine list of at least 217 foods, herbs and spices, just under half the current number of plants in my nutrtional/medicinal wholefood database.

Just today, someone hoped my foraging notebook had more in it than just the basics of how to forage for wild foods. So I may take parts of my "textbook" and build both a "herbs in the Central Okanagan" book, and either share in it or share in yet another book, the experiences we've had with using wild herbs as our pharmacy at home.

    ANNOUNCEMENT TO CENTRAL OKANAGANITES!!!

The Advanced Foraging Workshop: Thistle Dip and Breaded Thistle spears, is coming up June 28th and we have two people already registered! The last day to register is June 7th. For those who like to pay in person, come see us at Booth 105 in the Vernon Rec Centre in the hallway between the Auditorium and the gym.

If you want to catch us in person before Creative Chaos, come to see us at the Rutland Flea Market on June 1st.
