I watched this short film, Mass Psychosis — How an Entire Population Becomes Mentally Ill, finding it through a different social media site I use called Librti-dot-com. I like these kinds of films, for their rich information, fun, animated presentation, and use of both words and images to create a powerful message and or lesson. This “kind” means the white board, fast frame, animated films, which I have thought of using to create my own narrative. It was, though, the content of this film which inspired me to write this review. The film confronts an important question in our current culture that is being asked by many. These questions and answers presented well in the short film, need to be shared and used as a solution to a growing and still potential big change in society from freedom loving, abundant and beautiful, to tyrannical, fear based, scarcity and ugly society. NO one wants this, right?! Sooo… why are we moving towards this modern dystopia, and what can we do to resist and even stop it?
I encourage you to watch it, but for those who just want a quick review, I am here for you writing this review. For me the question is, why are so many people falling for this push towards total control, the quintessential master-slave relationship on a social level. Well, this film answers that question. It’s complicated, and involves modern thinkers, in psychology, sociology and philosophy. The film is full of highly credentialed academic thinkers who have answers to these social questions about mass hysteria, mass media, social control, obedience, submission and collective despair or psychosis.
After explaining this all in great detail, it spends the last few minutes talking about real, intelligent and doable solutions. There are four distinct and tangible ways that we can personally act, change and be, that will halt this seemingly unstoppable juggernaut of social change. The first is to bring order to your own life, live in the way you want, be an inspiration for others through your actions.
Then Truth is said to be the next important weapon against tyranny, because it is based upon lies which create fears and the desire to submit to the authority offering the people safety. Tell the truth, seek the truth and do not believe the mass media dogma of fear and control. We are not afraid, we know our inner strength and trust in our own capacity to be independent, and believe that we can work and live in fair, cooperative and loving communities.
They also said that humour and ridicule is a useful tool against the individual demigods that are themselves incapable of feeling mirth and have a humorless dark, fearful consciousness. Making fun of the elites will break their authoritarian attitude and false saviour delusions of grandeur.
Finally Vaclav Havel, the president of Czechoslovakia, suggested that Parallel Structures can be used to create isolated and autonomous pods of social change. Communities of people who are actually living differently, independently and sustainably in parallel existence with the growing totalitarian regime growing out of the free and loving country we already live in. These social structures become the life blood of humanity as it confronts the plans of the authorities to take over the people’s will. This kind of community has been envisioned as the most powerful and meaningful thing that people can do to stop the growing influence of totalitarian minded elite authorities. It is also exactly what I am creating here at the Wellness Cafe. I am inspired to keep doing this, because it is important. Humanity, society and modern civilization needs these communities.
I believe that I am not the only one creating this kind of community that is based upon freedom, love and sharing resources in fair, supportive collective ways. I am a part of a growing consciousness, these pockets of light and love are needed for humanity to avoid falling into a dark age of tyranny, fear and pain. In the film it said that if these communities are created, more will follow, and then slowly society will naturally move away from fear, control and greed and towards love, freedom and generosity.
The Wellness Cafe is such a parallel structure, but it is still growing and needs your support to keep it alive and healthy. We are still looking for another roommate in this parallel structure community, here at the Wellness cafe in central Burnaby. We have the perfect house for this intentional collective, all we need now is one more person to join us in living here in this alternative lifestyle that is not submitting, but is proactively finding new ways to create wealth, abundance and community. Our way is to offer alternative mental health practices, which brings mental strength, emotional healing and spiritual growth to you by donation.
